If i do buy a new tank, should i get it when they are around 7inches? The filter i have in there right now is penguin power filter 350 but if you suggest getting another one then i will. I am thinking about cycling it with a few guppies.

depending on what you have at your fish store, I'd definatly look into fluval... there also nice canister filters.

You dont have the fish yet so you have time to wait on shipping. I would look online if I were you to get the filter. You will get a much better price.

The earlier you add the canister the better off you'll be.
as for when to switch that depends on how many you end up getting, how fast they grow,etc. 6-7" sounds about good size to make the switch or if you decide to do the switch earlier that'll even be better, as long as you have the money and space then the sooner the better.
