My first SAC tank!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well thank you all for the information. As previously posted my husband "andrewmack" will be helping with the filtration.... any ideas on how to save some money doing that? I think we will just scratch the texas cichlid off the list and go with a green terror. I really liked jags but was reading that they will destroy all the fish i like.I was thinking about a pair of Delhezi, and either 5-6 clown loaches and 4-6 red tail botias. the red tail botia is a little more agressive but doesnt grow as large as the clown loach. ive been reading some CL can hit 16"s:WHOA:, I think 5-6 fish at 16" on the bottom would be alot. What would I have to do to my floor to make sure it can support a 125.

CLs grow fairly slowly and it would take them a LONG time to reach 12" plus.. I haven't seen many anywhere that are over a foot. You should be fine with a group for a long time.

If you get a GT get the "gold Saum" they're better looking than "Silver/White Saums" IMO. Also I'd make sure the GT is a little bigger than the JD as Gt's are slow growers IME, and the JD will probably catch up in no time

Sounds like a cool tank...Good Luck

yeah the jag may pick at and kill the oscars but should be fine with jd,gt. for a replacement for the texas you could try 2 fm's or any other Thorichthys fish or 2 male convicts. sajicas would work too

Well I hit up my LFS today and picked up a Clown Knife, his sides are little sunken in and I cant get him to show interests in any foods Ive offered. going to buy some live feeders tomorrow to see if that will just get him some substantial food. Looks like I'm going to need a really big tank now :headbang2Better go show the hubby some love.....;)

Lol, anyways if you buy live feeders be sure that they are clean and healthy so that your knife wont contract any diseases from the feeders.

:iagree: def the green terror cause the red might be a little too aggresive for ya, plus the greens are prettier

You really think so? GT's grow a lot slower than RT's I dont know if that is a plus or minus for you. RT's are definitely more aggressive IMHO.
