hey man I just did all this with my 120 in my new carpeted house... so I feel ya... I torn the thing apart twice, just to find out I had it right the first time...you could cut large pored sponges between the pump and rest of the fish...build a sponge wall between the two if you will...
Ok, looks good. By the way, keep an eye out for those plastic scrubbies. The kitchen sponges that you have will probably start to break down after a while. Other people have reported that is what happens, but it depends on what exactly they are made of. Also, get rid of the copper scrubbies. Some will be ok but you don't want any in with the other media. Copper is used on the hulls of marine vessels to prevent growth of sea barnacles and sea weed. It is not a suitable media for growing bacteria either. It is not a strong bacteriacide but it has trace amounts of silver ions in it. Silver is an excellent bacteriacide. You can find the plastic scrubbies at most dollar stores.
well, i redid it but this time i let the overflows run without the pump until it reached the max it could go... but now, when i turn on pump, the water level in the sump is a bit too short so the pump amkes a whole bunch of noise..
nevermind actually, it balanced itself out again and the pump has a thin layer of water over it.. but there is some water space left i can fill in the tank from the top... should i fill this in or no? I was thinking i shouldnt because i measured how much water would go into the sump when the pump stopped working. and it is barely over top

the problem is when it doesnt move enough water..., then you have flodding isues., also this is why people intigrate a ball valve into there overflows, to controle the flow...
