My First SW tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks Fleshy

I also picked up a rose tip bubble anemone today. Bought it off a guy that goes to the same SW LFS as I do. This guy is 3 years old and about 8” to 10” in size under normal conditions. Below is a pick of it in his tank. I’ve seen this guy and those colors are real. He still really stressed out from the move, but he is still re – inflating himself. He has only moved 1” since I put him in the tank. I’m really looking forward to seeing him return to his past size and colors. Hopefully he will find a spot he likes soon and I will be able to start adding more corals.

Yes I did. I even had him turn the tank lights off so I could see more of the true colors and it was outstanding. With his super blue and MH off, it looked just like the photo, only a little more of a red tone to it.

You should have seen the rest of his corals :headbang2 I swear this guy could grow anything in his tank and make it look outstanding. I'm going back latter today to get some frags from him

Pictures Monsieur

Pics to follow. He started moving yesterday so he made himself really small again. Hopfully he'll settle in to a spot he like today.

I'm also picking up a few frags from the same guy I bought the anemone from. He aggreed to hold them for a few days for me just in case the anemone should start to move. Should hav them in the tank tomorrow so I put up some pics then or the next day. I'll be picking up a blue mushroom, some candy cane, Green Palau Nepthea , and a few heads of frogspawn.

Might be a good idea to wait it out till your nem settles down for a long period of time. This way you can be (more) certain that he wont go around stinging things.

Just a few pic of the tank so far. I up-graded my lighting to a 8 bulb HO T5 fixture so I will have a few more options for coral (and a spare light fixture for my next tank)

Just a few pics of my anemones. He split a while ago and so far both halves are starting to open more and more and both are quick to eat the silver-sides that I give them. They are only now starting to get some coloring back. Hopefully it won’t take too long for them to get their vibrant colors back. They haven’t moved in over three weeks so I’ve started adding a few corals and I’ll be adding some more soon. I’ve placed an order with my SW LFS for some brains, plates, and torches
