man i boughht a 30inch coral life fixture about 2 weeks ago its already broken, first week the antic bulb when out week later day light went out, even had some spare bulbs and they didnt work

I've heard a lot of people having the same experiance as you. That's why I up-grading the lighting on my FW tanks a while back. I had this double T5 fixture sitting in the closet so I will use it until I can up-grade to better lighting in a few months (and before adding any coral) for this tank

yah dude its not a problem i just think they are cheap and you could use yours till the day its finished with no problems

Badass! I love that the clarity has gotten so much better already.

I would recommend maybe taking out some of that background rock you put in there originally and use that in the sump. It will hold bacteria, but isnt as cool as your live rock. I would also suggest ziptieing or acrylic rodding all of your rock.

I just did some zip tie work on my 125g, and its starting to look pretty solid. Cant wait to show it to you guys in the beginning of january. :D

I would go to an LFS, and pick some strange and unusual LR shapes to add a little to the look of the rock as well...some flat pieces for ledges ect.

by the way, i took you advice and rearranged the rock last weekend. The more I look at it, the more i like it. More room in the tank and better flow arround the rock now too

thanks

congratulation on your first hand made tank. for me i would like if i built my own tank rather than buying from store. but this also depend on free time

Thanks MrTungau

It finally feels like a real set-up now. I picked-up my first two fish yesterday, two black clown fish, they are two False Perculas, of the black melanistic variety. I acclimated them last night. They are only now starting to move around and check out their new home. I just tried feeding them but no luck yet. I’ll let them settling in a little more and try feeding again in the morning. I’m a little concerned about the fact there is not a lot of algae in the tank yet so I will hold off for a few more days before getting my snails. Only two of my rock towers have some diatoms on them and there is only spotty green algae on the rock that I bought as live rock.

I’m still finalizing the rest of my stocking plan for this tank. I just need to look into dietary requirements of the other fish I would like before deciding.

WOW, I never thought I would say “.I’m a little concerned about the fact there is not a lot of algae in the tank yet”.

These little fish are faster than they look. It was hard to get these pics. They are both still a little young, and will turn darker shades of black as they mature.

nice, im feeding my clown goldfish flakes for the moment but only temp, what are you feeding yours?

I'm feeding them mysis shrimp and blood worms. Same food they got in the store.

I tried feeding them again tonight, but this time with the powerheads turned off. They did eat a small amount of food so I'll take that as a good sign. I think they are still getting used to the stronger circulation in my tank than what they were used to at the store.
