Wow , your first tank looks great. I remeber my first tank, it was a 10gallon with colorful gravel and blue/yellow plants....it was uguly as heck.

also going to set up a station in my garage for making water for changes. might use a rubbermaid container with filters and pump to cycle water before even adding to my tank.

That will be way too much trouble. All you need is fresh tapwater with conditioner added to it. Just make sure you maintain good biomedia in your filter(s).
