Good luck. Your silk doesn't have a water kok. Maybe some of his fry will anyways?

Yeah I know its a bummer I was mainly talking about the head wrapped pearls that my silk is close to well its culling day time to drain most of the tank and go to work at it I wont know if the deformed fins are embryo injuries from momma hatching them her self till next batch but this time im just going to consider it as a genetic defect

Well I just did my first cull on this batch and from the ammount of deformed fins im getting a bag of aragonite to help raise the water hardness a little one benefit from it is I have a lot more growing room in the fry tank now

Like I said because silk X silk = silk they are one of the most overly inbred strains of fh and I imagine since seagrest is pretty far from the original source... that's likely a contributing factor to the deformity issue. I crossed mine to a kkp and had zero deformity though.

Actually I talk to seagrestfarm the ones they get are blue diamonds that are ordered from a farm in asia my guess is their from a closer source to the original strain blue diamond rather than ones listed as thai silks but point taken the one I have is most likely f4 or beyond for sure

There was no doubt heavy line breeding to fix that pearl mutation into a strain to begin with. They are great for adding pearls to a cross though. Gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

Is't that the truth man oh man I swear no matter how well you wash it it seems aragonite always messes up your tank for a day every single time I took all of it little by little put it in a bucket with tank water and shook the bucket for a minute then dumped out the water and still it happened I wasn't even intending on adding a full bottom substrate whats the secret going through it and acting like your panning for gold one pan at a time
