My First

I know that many of you have caught many of these, but last nite was my first. I caught a Stergeon in the south Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon. i have a bad pic for it was close to Midnite . I will try to post it. It weighed in at approx. 20 Lbs. My scale sucks............. funny thing is that i just changed my line to 50 lbs test and a new reel. the rod almost broke...i could feel the handle splitting while fighting it. it took me only a minute to land it. it was close to shore. I'm still exited!!!

And how did you catch it? Did you release it?

here is saskatchewan it is a a protected species. yes i did release it back. i need to catch it again and actually be ready with a real Camera.

i caught it using a pickerel rig and worms...dew worms..at night. and it was close to shore
