You just need some added fish...and the original ones will eventually come out and be normal....but please just check out your roommates.......

get some parrots they follow around the other cichlids and eat their poop. that should spice up your tank some.
No shame in trading in your fish if they don't interest you. Do some research and really work hard and find the fish you really want to acquire for their lifetime (or yours if you get a lungfish etc)
Fun outgoing fish off the top of my head are
puffers (fahaka would be sweet!)
shoal of exodons
pike cichlids are cool
African cichlids are cool
I could type for hours on this subject....
If nothing interests you in freshwater you can always look into saltwater
Lion fish , triggerfish , Even more puffers
You know what im getting at. If none of the above interests you ill gladly take the 200 off your hands
