I hate to say it and I know you are in really crappy situation but I would look into downsizing.

I don't think there is a gallon per inch issue here.

I am a 30-40% weekly water changer. My fish like the cool "rain water" everytime I add it. It makes a fish hardier too.

livebearer, I hope your fish recover. Sick fish do like a little aquarium salt. Helps respiration. I am not a vet though

in a recovery tank this is true... but in your actual tank won't the salt pretty much stick around?? i have only treated fish in recovery tank, so any input on my comment is appreciated...

I put aquarium salt in both of my tanks. You just have to be sure to only add enough salt that is measured by how many gallons you change. If you change 15 gal, then only add 3tbs salt (1tbs/5gal).

You live in a controlled environment?

HEY! Is this really a fish pretending to be a human!:WHOA:

Seriously. Monsterfish need weekly water changes. Not weakly water changes. Ah, I kill me...

Nice LOL

I suggest maybe rehoming these guys until you situation allows for you to have control over the terms for proper care for these fish.....

it sounds like water quality issue to me. from my experience, when fish "flash" (spasm), it is due to nitrates.

if you can't do a water change, can you clean the filter? when was your filter last cleaned?

when you do water changes, do you vacuum the gravel?

Sounds like you have stray electricity creeping into your tank.

no stray electricty, and i clean my eheim weekly. so far no spasm ( and no they dont flash they like freak out and hit decortions ) but i think i got it under control. thanks all.
