My fish are very sick

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your right .25 of ammonia is not a big deal, but combined with sick fish its not a good thing. He said he had some ammonia removing media in his filter, what is it called? I'd suggest a water change and then the salt and prazi pro.

0.25ppm is a miniscule amount of Ammonia, not enought to be toxic and i do have Ammolock media in my filter aswell as an air pump so circulation and aeration is definately not a problem. Thanks for the comment though, always good to cover all possible causes.

I believe it was a combination of stress and the the water params though the params are now stable and the nitrate is coming down.

Make sure that ammonia removing media is out before adding salt! What did you use to treat the flukes? It could have knocked back your biofilter a litttle or the meds could have stressed out the fish.

lol what happend in here, ok ill go over everything again just to make thyings clear.

I was cycling this NEW tank for 2 weeks, i planned to cycle it for 4 if not more weeks untill i beleived it was safe to put the fish in but whilst moving stuff around in the room i knocked the old tank and cracked it, it didnt explode and wet everying but it was leaking and fast so i had to remove the fish and put them in the new tank before the old one exploded, the water perams at the time were what i would call, safe but by no means ready for fish, i called my mate who is in charge of the fish at the lfs and he saids it shouldnt be a problem and he knows his stuff, has bread and kept fish for years.

The fish were fine, or atleast they were not doing anything to suggest they were sick up untill 4 days ago, their behavier suggested gill flukes and at the time there was no sighns of whaite spot/ick. ive got the air pump on full, have up the temp slightly, added salt, took out the carbon and treated the tank with parasite eliminator and triple sulfa tabs as was reccomend to me.

I did a 25% water change before adding these things and will do another water change in 3 days.

ill keep the thread updated, heres hoping they recover.
Cheers-

Dazz
