I’ve had these fish ranging from 2 months to 3 weeks and 5 of my African cichlids keep dying. They stay at the bottom the day before they die. My nitrate is 20 ppm, nitrite 0, ph 8.2, ammonia .25 on my test kit but on my seachem ammonia alert it reads 0. Can someone please tell me what’s happening. The tank is a 125 gallon and I have 20 juveniles.

Also let us know about water changes (volume and timing) as well as use of Prime.

We need more info.
How long has the tank been set up?
How was it cycled?
What species?
Some clear photos taken while alive, may help.
The species is haps it was cycled with food. I added 3 fish to start off that were moved once the tank was cycled. The tanks been set up for 3 months.

Think back to when you first set up the tank, did you use any cleaning products? Have you had this tank for a while or only the last 3 months, if you purchased it used do you know what the seller kept in it? Stored it? Cleaned it with?

A friend once cleaned a SW tank with cleaning products, converting it to FW with similar results.

I knew not to use any thing besides water to clean the tank and I got the tank from PetSmart 3 months ago and I saw a black mole on the side of the dead fish. I assumed this was just the way the fish looked but could that be it?
