My fish rooms build

After moving 2400 miles with ~31 fish, 5 cats and 5 turtles, buying a new car and a new house I'm finally able to start my dream of having a fish room. Except I get to have two!

Figured I'd start a thread to document my process.

First step: removed carpet, underlayment and tack strips

Well first congrats for making a successful move like that plus the new car, house etc., sounds like you're working hard and it's paying off, And that's great you have you'll have 2 fish rooms -- look forward to watching them evolve.

Nice! Thats a good sized room. You gonna cram it with stacked tanks or maybe just a couple of nice larger setups?

Current plan is 4 tanks in here (300, 300, 180 and 50 low boy) and a 10' diameter pond in the other room

Haven't officially decided. Thinking monster cats, rays and/or gar.

Oh and the turtles are getting their own pond in the garage.

That'd be awesome, just make sure to get a commercial dehumidifier. Can't wait to see the pond when you are finished!

A gar may jump out of the pond and explore the house if you let it. I've never had one, but I've heard some stories . . .
They break lids. Someone said they can climb like a perch, but not sure I believe that.

I know they can jump and wiggle around and stay out of water for a pretty long time, I doubt they can climb though.
