Ok so I have had this guy for about a year and a half since he was 2 inches and he's awesome but a week or so ago he started to get fin rot and I treated him with Melafix and it didn't help so I went to Maracyn 2 (tonight being the last set of meds for a full treatment) and now he's losing scales and has these black necrotizing looking ulcers forming... he hasn't eaten in probably 8 days and doesn't move anywhere... still breathing but don't know for how long... can someone help me!uploadfromtaptalk1345507119013.jpguploadfromtaptalk1345507159159.jpguploadfromtaptalk1345507236542.jpg

Melafix does nothing for me more a conditioner . Go get some Api primafix for fungus. It's a full fledged medication. With the tail cutting off and what kinda looks a little what I got into. Dose the primafix don't do any water changes for a few days. Also lower temp just a little to about 77. Also watch other fish so they are not biting him or anything. Did the fins turn white at one time before more or less falling off or what. Look white now. As I said get primafix and hope it is not too late.

Looking at what you treated with so far it is for the wrong type of stuff. Trust me I understand you I was in your shoes about a month ago. Wish I would have seen this yesterday for you.

I agree i would defo put him in a med tank so it wont spread and I bet the other fish are not making it easy for him to heal properly. I would add some epsome salt to his water too being in that much stress could lead to other problems like internal parasites, hex ect...

One more thing with my tank I made sure I had lots and lots of air in the tank. My Jack Dempsey came back good luck. Keep me posted please through pm or what.

I see 2 fish that seem to have identical problems, and that pleco looks awful suspicious.....test ur water could be toxicity burns.

He's still sitting in the same spot... the green flowerhorn doesn't bother him and the green one doesn't have any issues... he's perfectly healthy... or looks that way anyway... the royal pleco has been fine also, he doesn't even come out of the wood except when its dark. These guys are in a 125 gallon... I moved the Red one to a 40 gallon breeder with a couple of wood cats for treatment so the other fish shouldn't be an issue. Are you talking about Pimafix or is it actually called Primafix?
