This weekend the heater failed on my flowerhorns tank when I wasn't around and he passed, he was about 6". I am now on the hunt for a new wet pet. It will be in my 75g but as I'm moving soon I may put it in a 40b until I move. Any recommendations on a wet pet fish that gets pretty sizeable that could live in a 75g. Ability to live with a pleco would be a plus but not necessary. Thanks!

Well the first thing that comes to mind is red devil or Midas or Midevil all would fit in a 75 and may be able to live with a pleco without murdering it

I would do a larger male Jack Dempsey, Jaguar Cichlid or Oscar. Pretty much any larger new world cichlids make great wet pets and most will fit in a 75. Allot of people like Green Terrors for wet pets I don't care for them but its an option.

Well if you liked your FH. Then you would probably do good with a red devil, midevil, midas, etc. Personally I'd probably go with a pair of carpintis or a pair of lyonsi.

If you lived around here I'd give you a male labiatus (true red devil). I have 2 with a couple cons, but it isn't going too well.

Thanks for the input I don't like the red devil lip profile to much but like Midas especially creamsicle midas. I thought about an Oscar to. I love carpintis but only the Escondido variant. I already have a pair of jacks and they are much more shy then I would like.

I'd buy a Nandopsis Haitiensis "black nasty". They are somewhat rare, and make great wet pets with gorgeous adult coloration. Rapps is currently selling some juvies. There's a few on youtube that are ridiculous.

Vontehillo look VERY close to Escondidos if your interested in Carpintis. Just an option as far as Carpintis goes.

Also I vote for Midas as well, I absalutely love mine. My Oscar has a lot of personality too but no where the energy level
my Midas have with the same amount of personality. How ever my Oscar is more layed back where my Midas is much more
aggressive, buuut he also has a female with him and they do breed lol. I had him alone for a week and he was much more
mellow but still more active than the Oscar.

Just my experience with those two species. :)

Picked up a couple midevils in November I'm really starting to like them. Also got a few small F1 Red Devils that are starting to grow on me. Either one would make a great addition. midevil ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1389135424.264813.jpgred devilsImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1389135464.841126.jpg

I also say Midas. I gave my to the LFS a little under a year ago and ive been kicking myself since.

I got mine from dan at Cichlidoftheamericas.com and he was awesome. keep in mind they have a 100$ minimum order though.

good luck bud
