is it best to keep making efforts to pet him and letting him bite me or just drop the whole petting thing in general?
he is very used to me, he greets me when I come into the room, if I am on the other end of my bedroom 15 or so getaway and I even move he comes straight to the glass
he is very used to me. I did have a little petting session and he let me for a bit but only little strokes on his Kok ( no homo ) if I put anymore of my hand then just my fingers into the water he would try to bite me hard
Petting a fish, while it looks cool, isn't great for the fish as you may removing his protective mucous layer and may transfer an infection on him.
Ideally wash your hands with tank water well before attempting to pet him and don't overdo it.

I don't get the need to pet a dog, it's not a fish.And this is why i don't get the need to pet a fish it is not a dog
As Hidan says not great to be touching your fish bro, just increasing the chances of him getting something. My Kamfa-RTH hates everything in the world (except food); he even attacks fresh water as it's poured into his tank.
I'd like to see the contraption somebody mentioned in above post, but for me when doing tank work I have to block him off with piece of future board (like plastic cardboard) that I cut and fitted for his tank.
