Okay I bought this guy on 16th October 2012 He has since grown by over half an inch and become so much more muscular, it's almost unrecognizable if you had seen him the day i got him.
He is around 4.5 inch long.
Don't be mistaken, am happy with the effect. ;)
My question is, my Fh loves Chicken Liver. I feed him Chicken liver 3 to 4 times a week as dinner. Each time i notice he just keeps eating :screwy:
When do i stop??? Because forget the Five minute rule he doesn't even wait for the food to hit the water, he snatches it from my fingers. :WHOA:
He just keeps on eating, am afraid that by the time he stops eating his stomach would burst.
So when do i stop? Where do i reach a point where am over feeding? :headbang2
His main diet is Xo range of pellets.
(Chicken liver has been fed to all my Fhs in the past with no harm, but never have i met such an eater.)

Most cichlids will gauge themselves from what I've read fish can't digest animal matter aswell as other more common foods like fish. Just set a standard amount of food a day an stick to it. Should be fine ;)

OK, lets go little by little.

1.-Do not overfeed him, just feed two or three times per day as much and in moderate quantities. What happens when you eat too much?... you can get sick dont you?... so try no to overfeed, I feed my FHs from one to three times per day, sometimes i just feed them just one time per day others I feed them three and they are perfect. I'd say two times would be optimal.

2.-Do not offer your FH mammal nor poultry protein, if you want to make his diet less bored offer him salmon, tilapia fillet, mussels and shripms cut in small pices that he can eat. If you keep feeding him chiken or other kind of non "aquatic protein" his life spàn would decrease so DONT DO THAT!.

I'm sure you want to enjoy of your fish companionship by several years, so just keep feeding him pellets as a staple diet combined with fish/shrimps as a treat and he'll live longer and happier for more years!!!.

This confirms my saying:

He is definitely a little monster! He already got a pretty big kok! Just like the guy above says and maybe don't feed him til his belly is so bloated especially if you feed him everyday. If you feed him every other day or every now and then then you can feed him more but let his stomache go down back to normal.

Yeah, think I should put him on a more regular feeding schedule. Have noticed the chicken liver making him more lively and aggressive.

Well I really should avoid over feeding him. Which is why I wanted some advise regarding the way you limit the quantity to be fed.
About the chicken liver, it is NOT the staple. Its merely a treat that he loves to over feed on.
I plan to limit his exposure to Chicken liver. Never seen a fish go so crazy over chicken liver.:D

Thank you!! An absolute eating machine is what he is lol
Yeah, I have started observing his belly for signs that would tell me he is hungry or just plain greedy :)
