I should add that anytime the freddie is around a female, or being threatened my another male he will get jet black vertical bars.And become vibrantly yellow elsewhere

Im thinking female, and those two fish look nothing alike, yours is a mature male, and his is a immature ambiguous fish.

Now I just wish I'd gotten more than one... I got two jags to go with him/her, but they're not nearly as pretty or interesting.

This fish is getting big fast! It's already about 5" long, maybe 5.25"! And the color is really popping. The yellow is vivid, especially against the black bars/spots, and the blue on the fins looks better and better every day. I'm very glad I let Pharaoh talk me into getting it .
