yepp^^ and DO NOT use algi killer in the tank they are in it will kill them and realy mess your system up i have ( found out the hard way) till i learnd how to control it with out chemicals

Is it true their shells can increase the PH?

I also know these die easy thats why I never bothered getting any.

Not much compared to the SW shells which are loaded with calcium.

As far as I know, their shells don't really release calcium into the water, but can be eroded away if your using a CO2 reactor with a carbon plate. I'm not sure, but I would say that the shells would not raise water pH.
