On sunday, I was out with a friend in manhattan, KS (about an hour drive from where she lives). we were getting ready to go to an Avenue Q show, when her roomate called saying he let the bird out.
She lets her bird fly freely around the house. it isn't properly hand trained, and doesnt like hands near it or to be handled. I had been telling her for a long time it needed to have its wings trimmed unless it were properly trained, and shouldn't be allowed to fly freely in the house.
She was devastated, and wanted us to rush back. I suggested we get a net first, so she practically ran to the back of walmart to get a net. She was crying all the way to her place because her sister had a bird who escaped and it ended up dying. She was also freaked because big thunderstorms were heading towards her place.
We got back, and her roomate didn't help at all with finding the bird. we eventually found it up in a tree. I told her that she would have to coax her bird down, and i would net it. After about 15 minutes of them whistling back and forth, the bird flew down onto her head and took a dump. I tossed the net (big fishing net) over her head and the bird and caught the bird.
As soon as we got inside, she had me clip the birds wings. about 5 minutes after we got inside, it started storming.
Anyways, now she is trying to hand tame the bird. I'm glad i was around, because she likely wouldn't have gotten her bird back otherwise.
