Definitely looks stressed...darker coloration and reduced Nuchal hump. I wouldn’t worry about the pearls any loss of pearls can return with proper care but I would tell him to immediately switch pellet. Okiko has crap ingredients such as fish meals, wheat, and yeast, and a “Special Head Growth Enhancing Ingredient” whatever that is. The protein is also roughly 20% higher than it should be. If NLS is too expensive at least get him to switch to anything hikari.
Nice looking FH tho. Great streamers on his fins too. He'll be even better once he regains his color again, also good to see him in a tank thats not just a bare bottom. Might wanna try some more natural colored sand tho, he could be stressed from the blinding white color.
I guess it would depend on the type of sand. I usually just get aquarium sand so it really doesn't do anything to the ph but I don't know about other kinds. It's definitely possible tho but I would assume gravel and rocks would do the same. Yeah sucks about the ick tho, I just lost a few Angels I just got from it. Didn't see it on them when I bought them.I am not sure if that sand altered the pH. My friend is in India and test kit there is pretty costly. I asked him to remover it.
Fish had ich few weeks ago, so he had turned up the temperature to 30, ich is gone and I asked him to lower it. The color improved a little after that.

Lol well I sure wouldn't know the difference. I've used lake sand before after baking it in the oven a few hours. Don't recommend it tho, lotta stuff to sift out.Aragonite sand can cause change in pH. The problem in India is even shopkeeper don't know.

Lol I am too now a days. I did that the first time I set up my 80 but got rid of it because I had too many problems with it. Mainly with the cichlids burying food in it and causing ammonia bursts.I am too lazy to do all that.
