my fronts are dying left and right

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not a lot of info here, but I wonder how much water you changed and if you use an additive when adding water. I have found that my fronts need frequent water changes, but they do not seem to do well with anything more than a 25 percent water change per week. I actually have started feeding less and change about 20-25 percent every couple of weeks.

What do you feed them?
What are your parameters?
Any pictures?
How often do you change the water?

I would pick up a test kit (drops) instead of test strips. Get some good data to work with and keep an eye on your parameters. I would also talk to your lfs about your tap water as well.

What does "ph is fine" mean? If you test ph it could read "fine" but that doesn't always mean it hasn't fluctuated.

Good luck.

the rest look fine
1 started spazin out and died
hour later another one does the same thing
then ANOTHER ONE turns completly black
i tried putting seperating hm from the others
and put a lil aquarium salt in there
he died couple hrs later

LAME!

How long has the tank been running? Did you condition the water after the last W/C?

i condition my water in a 30gal tub for 24hrs b4 adding
tanks been up here since spring
owner b4 me had it for 4 year
ph is around 7.8
i feed them hikari micro pellets twice a day

It does'nt matter if your water is clear. You need to test for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates. Clarity of your water does not mean your water is good for your fish. You need to go out and buy your self a good master test kit such as API.

How is it 'conditioned'? Which product?

Fortunately I haven't had this problem (50-60% weekly since they were one-inchers, 8" to 11" now).

if you leave water out for 24 hours usually you dont really need to add an additive. A lot of people who dont like using chemicals in their tanks will let water sit for 24 hours in a tub or w/e, I know it takes the chlorine and junk out. I know a lot of people that do that instead of adding chemicals or additives to remove things after a water change.

Anyways I would agree with getting a test kit and testing your water. You may have spiked in something and your water can still be crystal clear.

Is the tank stable yet, or are fish still dying?

This technique isn't effective with water treated with chloramine; hopefully imnickg's source water doesn't contain chloramine.

That I would not know as I dont have that problem in the area I live in, the water here is fine to do that with. Well hopefully he doesnt have that problem.

I am curious to see how it turns out or what is causing it.
