great setups! those colombian tetras sure are great fish!
Thanks Jeff! I LOVE the colombian's.. They school in a tight pack and have great colors. It's a shame they have a bad rapp for "nipping".. So not true..

That 300 hundred is sick! What is the plant at the top and how is it growing down in the water?
It's a silk spider plant that was thinned out, cut into about 15 chunks and planted in various places in the tank. I mounted them over the Loc-Line returns so the sway in the flow. If I can find it, I'll add the pic I used to model this design after. Nothing in this tank is real, it's 100% artificial, even the wood.. I am on a quest to show fake plants can look just as good if planned well. The 300 is in the garage so I have no interest in pampering plants, it's about the fish.. Tanks in the house are all live plants though. That and this big guy make sure live plants "pay the price" for entering his tank lol. He even goes after the silks..

Nice setups! Do you have those plants growing into the back of that 10g?
Yeah they are live plants. I built a faux wall out of the 3D background and made a submerged sump/FW refugium. The plants consume the ammonia in this tank so it avoids the nitrogen cycle pretty much all together. The guys over in the planted setup would think I am a total idiot but it was a fun project I did with my sons so meh...

I have a 180 GHP pump turning over the 10 gallon 18 times per hour but the majority of the flow is in the planted chamber, in the main tank is much less. I snapped a couple pictures from tonight for you below.
I finally got the other 100 lbs of sand moved over, it looks far better IMO. I also added another 50 lbs to the 120 gallon as well and am glad I did.. It's a little out of focus below but if you look closely you see all the orange heads in the front schooling together. They look tiny in this tank! The largest is 6" TL.
This is something likely only Jeff Rapps and myself have seen stateside??? 6 of these fish in one tank, at one time. (he got in a group a while back) I know of no other people in the US keeping a school of this size. I redid all my tanks to build this one for them. Breeding them is a #1 goal in my hobby. Please let me know if you know of other people keeping this species please, I want to talk to them!
