i got them as a pair and yes the nest was a nest the female laid the eggs but then insted of breeding the male ate the eggs

thats cool you have a pair. just give it time , give them there own tank with some nice driftwood and sand some fake plants or real if you perfer and try to mimic the rainy season. im sure that if you give them enough time and they feel secure (paint back and sides of tank) you will deff have babies. that would be so cool to sell some of the babies and raise some yourself. how much did the pair cost you? and you said there all black right now?
