For my Birthday recently my wife and my mom went in on a group of fish for me. They managed to get my list I had on my computer of what I had in mind I wanted to buy for myself. Anyhow, without me knowing They got me 2 of each on that list. Im trying to end up with nothing but males if possible. Some of the fish are still pretty juvi. Some I think are showing signs of what they are. But im not sure of male or female. So I figured id share what the fish are that

This is what I got. I have to say they are great!!

Green Terror -Gold Saums
Maculicauda - Blackblet
Argentea
Hartwegi
Zonatus
Synspilus
Parachromis Motaguensis- Red Tiger
Parachromis Managuense - Jag
Amphilophus Labiatus -Red Devil
Amphilophus Festae - Red Terror

Ive got some video of a few of them in my grow out tank that used to be a planted tank that im decomissioning the planted set up in, Actually right now ive got them spread out based on size in some various tanks. Im at this moment getting the rest of my bigger tanks all set up and running so I can move them. Forgive the crud floating in the water, They got a little excited and stirred up the sand a little. Plus ive got something I normally never have on my plants.. Algae, GASP!! lol. But seeings how the fish are going after the plants some in this particular tank I dont care as the plants are going away. The tanks they are in right now are very temporary as im in the process of getting all my larger tanks set up so I can spread them out some.

Anyhow Some pics and video of some of them on my list. One of the Jags is really different then the other and really wants to dig a pit. The fish in these pics and video will be both the jags, one of the Blackbelts, Both the festae, One of the GT, one of the red devils. I will post video and pics later of more of the fish.

Here is some of the pics first. I will post the video a little later. Sorry if the pics and video quality is poor. It was a quick one with my phone.

Red devil #1 He is just starting to change color and get some redish hue on his body.

More pics to come along with some video.

Of course sexing them at this moment may be not doable as they are all only around 3 to 3.5 inches each. But I cant say I know everything im looking for to determine. Some of you with more experince with all these fish may have better ideas then I do.

All of the fish I got are fantastic. I love them all. So fun to watch. So far no real specific aggression. Some little push and shove, but not anything out of the ordinary. I will get some picks of the others I dont have up. I have to say the "Old" Vieja species of fish are fast becoming some of my favorites. The Blackbelt #1 is one of the bigger fish. Quite cool looking and very interactive with me. All the fish love to come up to the glass any time I approach. They are all currently eating NLS and Hikari gold sinking and floating pellets. They get weekly water changes of 75%. High amounts of filtration on all the grow out tanks. Im quite excited to see them grow and change. I plan to spread them out through my 90, both of my 125's, my 180 and my 350. Eventually I plan on a larger tank to hopefully house them all.

Only fish im missing right now that I wanted off my list is the Lenticulata Pike. But they have become a little hard to find at the sizes I need.

you have a male and female managuense. The one with all the spots (jag #1 and pic 2/3 is male, the other is female. I don't know enough about any of the other fish to help out though lol

Cool. Thats what I thought. But thanks for the confirmation. The male has been getting some very serious blue coloration to his fins. She has been very busy digging everywhere.

It may still be too early to tell, but it looks as if your Green Terror is a female. Reason being is that males will have a rounder body with (usually) stronger coloration on the spots. However, you haven't had it in the tank for long so it might just not be "showing off" yet. Females have the longer torso and generally will have differently shaped dorsal and face. The key indicator will be if the GT produces a hump.

Way too early to tell for your Red Terrors (some don't find out until they are near adults), but just looking at the facial structures between the two, it looks like you may have one of each. (Again, Males are likely to have a more rounded face/structure whereas the female will have a longer slender structure).

Cool thanks for the input. Kinda have been thinking the same. Still pretty young to tell on some of them. But Im not going to admit in being any kind of expert with these fish. In fact quite the opposite. Ive been around them along time with roomates that had them as well as I worked at a LFS years ago. But all my exposure was just that years ago. I also never got into these fish back then. For years it was Africans for me for Cichlids as well as Discus and Rams. But never the big cool fish like these. Just didnt click for me then. Now im very much into the SA/CA fish while learning and relearning some things as I go.

Im putting together a larger community tank where I want to put the males of what ive got into it. The smaller tanks ive got like my 90, 2 x 125 and my 180 id like to put some specific fish possibly male female breedable stuff of some of these. But For now im not looking to add the female hormones to the equation and create the possibility of more aggression in the community and my grow outs..

Thank you for the input. Ive got alot more pics to post of alot more fish plus some video.

They all are beautifull. What a pack you got in there.

I agree with you on the Viejas. Being an Amphi guys i also am falling in love with Viejas and blackbelts are high on my list. :)

Thanks Miguel. I thought you might like them. More pictures and some video to come.

I also like the Amphi's as well. But just something about all those beautiful Viejas I love. Nice size, nice color and some attitudes to match.

Just found out that Rapps now has true GT in stock.. Damn.. Its what I was really looking for. ... Hmm A buddy of mine was saying how much he really likes my Saums.. I Wonder.
