My FX5 return hose looks like it's stressing

 • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys, I'm now convinced I need to convert to Vinyl tubing.. I saw the same stress marks where the hosing is bent over the rim of the tank for the return and intake. I have some 1" ID tubing (thanks http://www.innovationlandscaping.com/fx5/vinyltubing.html ) that I slipped over the spare aquastop valve and i must say it's not a very tight fit at all. Hose clamp is gonna prevent any leaks or coming off of there?

ive use my spare aquastop valve attached to 1" hose for water changes. Ill admit the fit isnt that tight, but with a bit of silicone and the hose clamp and ive had no problem yet.

actually ive siliconed and put the hose clamp on 3 times, as twice in the past ive connected the other end to the tap to fill the tank back up, but still had the aquastop valve closed, the pressure caused the pvc pipe to burst by the join but the hose clamp did not give way.

(still felt like a plonker when i done it again a few months later lol. )

You are making me a wittl scaod... I just bought a 405... which I might add does an AWESOME job making my water crystal clear.... However this stressed hosing makes me a little leery... Here is the problem I have with some of the fixes... FLUVAL comes with manufactured rubber ends on the tubing... some of you are sying just cut it off or get some tubing from the hardware store... Is that tubing going to fit in the locking nuts with no leaks?

P.S. How do I start my own posts... I don't know what I am doing... Kinda like with my aquariums...

i'll try to take pics of the pipe that i made for you.. it was really simple. far easier than i imagined it would be.

what do you use for intake M?

right now it's still the stock ribbed hose.. but this weekend it'll become pvc also.

Tuesday the output hose popped off of the rubber end on the aqua stop valve on my FX5 and flooded my house. that plumbing job was the answer to my problem. that and water for the fish to swim in.. took a big chunk out of the 210 and about 70 gallons from the RO/DI system.

probably won't need a water change in the 180 for a couple days.. :cool-1:
