My shortnose and florida gar. 125 gallon for now. I will be buying myself a 6x2 or a 6'x30" as a Christmas gift this winter :naughty:. I have declined B-day and fathers day gifts from my wife so I can combine all the holidays into one big tank for x-mas haha. Shortnose is 15-16" and FL is 11-12". Pics were last week a couple days after I got the shorty and his fins are already almost completely healed up from his travels.

Looking good! Glad to see the shorty is doing well for you. Is he eating good?

The lap is doing good for me. Looks great on the black sand with the gars and my Senegal.

Glad to hear that Lap is doing well.

The shorty does NOT STOP EATING!!! I throw in pellets to try and fill him up and he eats all of those. I then throw in smelt and tilapia for everyone else and he gets down there and starts eating all of that off the bottom. If there is one piece left anywhere in the tank, he is nosing around the bottom for it. I am amazed at how he eats. His fins are almost completely healed now from the trip and his color/pattern is coming back (though he doesnt have intense spotting or anything). Are these confirmed shortnose?

They're as confirmed as can be without genetic testing... Glad he's eating well for you. The rest of mine are all the same way. They are eating machines, and it doesn't matter what it is!

He looks like he's lightened up considerably. I had him on black sand, not tan sand. They have cool patterns, and great personalities.

i was thinking they may be spotteds? but i sure dont know the difference. if they were confirmed by others then thats good enough for me. He lost a lot of his slime coat when he was moved and it shows in the pictures. He has darkened up a bit more and looks much better now. Ill take more pics sometime in the future. Hes getting quite fat. I just dont want to be the guy who updates a fish every week when nothing has changed haha.

Definitely not spotted gar. I have a true spotted from Sol in my tank, and these guys are nothing like them. You can trust that they're shortnose gars. They've been confirmed on here for a while.
