My Gar jumped!

I keep my gar with 4 bichirs and they ignore eachother. in fact everyone ignores the gar. Only problem I'm having in the tank right now is that my GG is hitting his adolescant size and feels like he has to chase the dithers constantly.
You can't necessarily say how it happened, I had a pink tailed chalceus that was in my tank for 4 months perfectly happy and healthy until one day just after I moved he decided to shoot into the side of the tank and break his spine.

Yea I'm only guessing what happened. The gar has been in the tank for a couple of weeks now and he's not skittish at all. He's acting normal now, he just ate a little while ago so all seems ok.

how about those spine problems? when my chalceus broke his he was literally just sitting on the bottom of the tank unconcious upside down unable to do anything but twitch.
I think my mind was playing tricks in me. It looked like there was a hitch behind his head that I didn't remember seeing but he's swimming normal so It could have just been psychosomatic lol

I honestly don't know. I saw him like that when I woke up this morning. He wasn't completely dry so maybe not too long.
