Out of curiosity, why no silver fish? Do the color attract them more? And would a silver arowana not be the best?

Silver fish tend to get attacked by gars. Imitates their natural prey items. Silver arowanas are usually not recommended. Potential for aggression and loss can go both ways. I quick search wuold provide you with more information.
Op, you do realize that oscars lose their "interesting" color patterns by the time they mature. Oscars also don't do well with anything that they can fit in their mouth. Angelfish are also very week on the aggression scale, so if they are a must for the wifey I would stock relatively nonaggressive community type fish.
