Spiffy! I'm sending out my order tomorrow for an SB800 and the ML-L3 shutter remote (should get it in about a week or two). My next major photo purchase will probably be a macro lens, but I'm going to hold off on that for a while.

My stuff is in Lawrence, KS! (I'm in MO)

The company I ordered it from ships via UPS and I got an email a couple days ago from UPS giving me my tracking number, but the address they had was for Lawrence. Turns out someone at the photography place entered the wrong zip code in the computer. But after a couple of mildly angry emails and a phone call, everything is hopefully taken care of and they said I sould be getting it on Monday.

Just had to vent.

Chelle, can't wait to see the stuff that comes out of it, that next step is always a big "WOW" when you do it for the first time.

Well, I received my package today. All I got was the flash and the battery, the remote is on back order. But that's not the big issue.

When I found out they were shipping it to the wrong address, I emailed both UPS and the photo store to notify them of the problem. Within 2 days, UPS was kind enough to reply both via email and a phone call and they did everything within their power to fix the problem. Basically all they could do was ship me my stuff from Lawrence, but at least they got back with me quickly and tried to help.

It has now been 5 days since I sent out the emails and I've heard squat from the photo store and this is all their fault to begin with (oh and the UPS people contacted them as well). So not only have they shown very little reguard for their customer, but I paid extra for 2nd day shipping and (again, because of their mistake) I didn't receive my stuff until 5 days later. (<-- that smiley doesn't look pissed enough).

I sent them yet another email trying to be as nice as possible (I would like to receive my shutter remote sometime this decade) but I am majorly pissed.

But besides that, I have been playing around with the flash a little. I have to pick up a cable so I can use it remotely, though.

Yeah, cable or the STE2 :) I know that it's expensive for that purpose, but it's such a great item, and you can use it in studio setups too.

I did a quick search and all I could come up with was a Canon STE2. Does it work with the Nikon SB800?

Oops, sorry. You are a Nikon user :) (oh, and I dont mean anything by that, just a statement of fact) :)

There is nothing out right now, but a new controller is coming out later this year. It will be very nice actually.

BTW, you have D70 you dont need a controller :) Just use the Commander mode to trigger the Flash (set to slave mode) using your onboard flash. Jay has posted some settings to do it right, somewhere in the Nikon Hardware section. LMK if you dont find 'em. IT works really well, you dont need cords or anything else.

SPIFFY! Thanks.

I was pretty sure I'd read somewhere that I didn't need a cable, just couldn't remember if I was imagining it or not.

Ah Ha! Got it! Thanks a ton. And a HUGE thanks to Jay for those extremely easy to follow instructions.

UGH! The saga continues. I swear, even if this place sold everything for half the cost of everywhere else I still wouldn't order from them (I'd happily say what place it is, but I'm afraid of a slander lawsuit - although it technically isn't slander).

I just got an email from them and after all this crap (that's THEIR FAULT!), all they had to say was my remote is on backorder (big newsflash there! ) and I'll get it whenever. Yeah, big help guys. And thanks for not even acknowledging that you made a mistake!
