My Gold Severum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nice gold. my gold male is very subdued. my female gold has paired with my red shoulder, and is very aggressive, towards the other gold, as well as my 20" ID shark, my black ghost knife and delhezi poly. the only one who'll go back after her is my oscar.

I had a male years ago that was really aggressive for no reason. I found that the gold ones in my experience were more aggressive than the Rotkeil I kept

I had a Rotkeil too but had to sell it as he was a nightmare for bullying the other fishQUOTE]

I have 2 rotkiels right now in the 4"+ range and they are bullies for their size. Good thing they are smaller than my other fish and are more bark than bite.

The rotkiel is one of the best looking fish I've owned, in fact I'm going to get another one now!

nice male. I have one thats about 3" currently and I had it since it was tiny, and I find that Severums are not aggressive per se, but they are very territorial to similarly shaped fish. Likes to be in charge of my parrots but ignores my Snooks and SB texas. I really would like to get some more severum buddies for him someday.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've had him just over a year and he's grown from 1inch to 6 inches. Not sure if that's normal growth but seems pretty slow to me? I had a Rotkeil too but had to sell it as he was a nightmare for bullying the other fish, including a cichlasoma bocourti that was much bigger! I'll definitely get more sevs when I have room.

My best looking severum is my notatus.
