MY GREEN ARO IS MAKING RUMBLING SOUNDS!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
time to get another green male or female depending on the sex of yours.

I had heard my green aro roars before too!
It roar when fighting with my silver aro...

People from fishfarm told me that only male arowana can roar.

i wonder how it makes the sound, though? Compressing the air bladder?

I seen something on Nat Geo chanel on alligators/crocodiles mating where the male growls and vibrates the whole body near the surface trying to atract the females. IDK, maybe like that in aros too since these are some ancient fish and crocs pretty ancient too.

i thinks it is rubbing the boney plates in its throat together.

how would that make a rumbling sound? I know certain fish make sounds by squeezing their airbladder

Some peps on here were giving me sh*t when I tried to share my experience regarding this unusual aro behaviour not that long ago. I wouldn't believe it either except I've witnessed it myself.

I believe we took it in the wrong context Aro-discus, anyways, apologies for what it's worth. A number of other fish make mating noises too... saltwater toadfish in particular are noted for their vocalizations every year on the Atlantic coast.

Here's a good article on noisy fish: http://www.diatribune.com/marine-life-series-soniferous-toadfish

Not true, my female roars also, just not as loud as the male....and with a different tone....

Included some vids, but no roaring on them....they do it often, but I have not caught the sound on vid yet....

The males roar is easily heard 15-20feet away...female only 3-4 feet.
