I have the same problem in my outdoor pond in the summer months with turtles, they go in then cant get out.The pond freeze solid in winter. Also birds fall in and cant climb out. I put a little 2x4 in a spot that is not seen easily and they find their way out. No more deaths. Works good.

Your green house is wonderful. You should be very proud. Im sure the fish feel natural in them. It looks wonderful. For your wind power and oxygen, what about if you use a windmill to run a water pump like farms do, pump it up into a holding tank where it flows into cascading series of waterfalls, just think how wonderful the moving water will sound as it flows over the rocks. i have 6 large tanks and i dont use a single air stone. I let my water level be a couple inches low and the water from the filter outflow drops to the surface creating oxygen and you can see the air bubbles.

Yes, i believe the best way is to make a waterfall, but still don't know how am i going to do it.

Thank you

This weekend i've done another litle things:)

I've emptied this tank because i was very intrigued since last Summer because i haven't seen any fries in there. The tank is this one

I've putted there, last winter, 3 Gymnogeophagus Labiatus.

This time the task was easier because my son helped me.

Me to :)

I believe i'm not going to have problems with the stingrays. The only problem is that i don't live there and is my father that's going to feed them. That's what i'm affraid:WHOA:

That's mad man, I wish I could do that :(

just read this whole thread. what a beautiful setup with the greenhouse and outdoor ponds. i agree about the plants to do the filtering, have done that in outdoor ponds and tanks also, but never tried indoors. just kept stocking levels low and no problem. the mechanical windmill for aeration is a great idea. not being dependent on electric power is the way to go if you are in an area with constant wind. i saw in your photos that there are windmills in your area already so it should be a great solution. your arrangement gives me many ideas for the future!! thank you for sharing.

I've asked to some shops that sells alternative electric systems if they have any solar systems or wind systems that could sustain a water pump that could run 800l in one hour.

The prices were 2.331,84 € for the solar system and 3.740,80 € for the wind system. They are crazy. With that money i can put the pump working with electriciti until the end of my days.

What do you think?

imo a mechanical device, if possible, would be a simpler option and cheaper than a system converting mechanical energy to electrical and back to mechanical. but since this will likely be homebuilt, the mechanical system may need more adjusting to keep it running optimally. that may be an issue, since you are only there on the weekends. unfortunately i have never attempted anything like this, so no firsthand advice. i have been to lisbon, what a beautiful area. you are a very lucky man!
