This week I got 5 bleheri at around 4-5" to try to form a pair later on.

Don´t have many pictures yet, but here as a few (really bad ones and all taken at night with flash) and I´ll take more in the coming days in order to keep this journal updated

Nice group !

Hi E Trajano
To be honest, l don't. They came through an English importer and wholesaled but dont't know where they got them.

Devon
2 subtropical species. Lot's of fun ahead

Ok!
I hope that this species diffuses through captive breeding. Because the few who came to Brazil were very expensive and many died, almost certainly because of unsuitability of the hot weather here ... The bred in captivity tend to adapt more easily, do not you think?
Bye!

E_Trajano, unfortunately CB ones are just as sencitive to the warm temp's it's genetic. Although they would likely have a lower initial death rate, Channa have a HORRIBLE survival rate when they are WC imports. For many years i had importers tell me they wont bring them in simply because 90% of them dont make it too sale and those that do 90% again die after purchase.

Down there in the tropic's your better off just choosing tropical species and then you dont have to worry about the higher temps.

Joao,

Sub-tropical's are my favorit ! Some day I hope to own them all! I have 3 species in the collection now, Bleheri coming in the next week or so will bring me too 4 species, and MAYBE some true blue as a 5th ??...I'm very tempted by those true blue's but they are pricey and apparently even harder to pair/care for then auranti!

Also for your bleheri I'd say those are WC , not that many CB ones around unless you getting them from a private collection and those would have started popping up in the spring when they breed. This is the time of year for WC's from that river system, and they came in with WC auranti it's pretty much a guarantee those are wild! (the 2 species come from the same river systems/province in india)

It's a shame, but I have to agree with you.
Pity that tropical species are usually larger and longer prohibited by the Brazilian government.
So, nothing Channa for me now ... Until then, I'm watching the creation of you, dudes.
Bye!

Oi, E_Trajano
I guess Devon has clarified (better than I would) all your questions.

Devon,
Fantastic that you´re getting bleheri! I´m having a blast of this group. They´re started eating almost immediately and are very calmand easygoing as a group (at least for the timebeing)
I got these in the shipment of the auranti. They came from a UK wholesaler so, based on your info, most likely WC.

In the meanwhile, here is a video

Looking good!
