My GSP is acting wierd. help please

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So you have no plans on putting that puffer in brackish water? Did you read that link I gave you? Your other fish won't appreciate any salt, especially the amounts that puffer will need to stay healthy & live a long life.

yea bud your fish will be sickly in full fresh water even in brakish water as they are adults.

The DO BEST IN FULL MARINE!!!!!!

Man bra you should have done a bit more research into the GSP's before putting one into the tank.

I have to agree--the LFS is generally the worst place to research puffers. Most are sadly mis-informed.

Okay bra...Well I did quite a bit of research actually. it's just so many different sites say one thing and then another says the exact opposite. And it's not like I asked the 15 year old new kid at the LFS for what he thinks is right. The manager of aquatics, which is one of my boyfriends friends tells us not just what we want to hear (he has talked us out of buying fish that we wanted, actually) but what he knows from experience. But thanks anyways bud. I will do my best to get my little GSP a separate tank that is brackish although I have no idea how to maintain a brackish or salt water tank.

Again, I ask--did you read that link I gave you? Might want to look over that site it's at too. Best pufferkeepers around on there. Mentors who have been keeping them for over 50 years...

another person not interested in what the actual keepers of green spotted puffers think or know, not even care to know at that! you will see when your puffer dies in his freshwater about a year or so from now and mine as well as pufferpunk or anyone else who follows the links given by pufferpunk, are thriving living into their teens :)

I can also guarantee you--that puffer will tear into the arowana.

i wouldnt doubt it with the way arowanas hang out at the top and swim in spot with the current and their wavy tails, probably be like waving a red cape in front of a bull

not if it's sick and dying, it won't

unless one day it decides it looks good for breakfast/lunch or dinner. i have a GSP i didnt think would ever not like a tankmate i put in there, it literally wouldnt stop if decorations werent in the way for it to get to the 6 line wrasse. if for some reason it decides one day that the arowana looks yummy, then the arowana is toast.
