Depends on tank temp but usually around 2-3 days to hatch and then another 5 or so until they are free swimming.

is that the same with Red Devils? my pair laid eggs last night. does anyone know how to care for the fry once they are born?

red devils/ midas are good parents you can leave the fry with them.....
But Gt's are bad parents once they strat swimming you need to separate them...

ok ill do that anything else i should know?

Gt's are not all bad parents. Mine are raising a third batch of fry in the tank and I still have the other two batches in there with them. I lost quite a few due to many reasons but not because the parents ate them. The survivers are 3/4 inch now down to the free swimmers from last week. The parents don't bother them a bit with mama guarding the ones she can keep rounded up and letting the strays go where they want.
Mine got the parenting thing down right away, I'd let them try at least. I had mine as a community tank when mine first bred and they guarded the babies together all the time. This last brood was the first where only the two parents were in the tank and they are more relaxed this time. Mama still tries to keep the babies in a group but isn't frantically sucking them up and spitting them into a group this time. If some wander off she doesn't search for them. I think quite a few are still getting sucked up the filter, so that would be something to look at.
