my gts laid eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually just posted with a pic of some cool one's called "my killer little terrors "check it out. fry are kind of sensitive so expect to lose some, it's just natural for the weeker ones to die. you're still going to have more fish than you know what to do with in six months.:nilly: also I'm sure there are way's to keep cost down but if you raise them on frozen brine shrimp and beefheart(later) like me than you're never getting your money back out of them. Do yourself a favor and consider raising them as just a hobby, it's pretty fun!:D

thanks blue phantom. i moved my fry to another tank. i just have about 15 or 20 left. i think the rest got eaten in the community tank.IMG_0673.jpg

Your fry look great! good job moving them to another tank. I lost all mine, I think the parent's are eating them because I removed all the other cichlid's from the tank. The only ones left to suspect are my pleco's and I know at least one is very carnivorous. But hey "live and learn" as they say, I think next time I'll move the egg's while they're still stuck to something, I've been told that's the best failsafe method.

hi
i had alot more fry. bt as soon as they started swimming on their own they drifted from the parents. the other fish just swallowed them

One way to prevent babies being sucked up in your filter is get some pany hoes, or however it is spelt, sterilize them with hot water, rinse really good, and then just rubber band it over the filter. Won't get the debris, you have to do that part, but will still get adequate water filtration.

now that your pair is breeding try puting slate or pots for them to breed on so its alot easier to move the fry when they are still eggs. then just have a small tank ready with a air stone and sponge filter in my opinion. you can move the whole slate and when they hatch put the slate back in ur main tank and poof you'll have more. removing fry from gravel is a pain. i just had to remove wigglers from my red jewel pair they had so many and so many fish were already eating them that i just gave up and took only half and left the rest with the parents.

thanks woofy thats a brilliant idea. but while im moving the rock with the eggs, will the eggs be fine out of water for a few seconds?

The eggs will be fine out of water for a second. ;)
