It's different to catch a fish that will not survive once released.

But no one can pull the "I need to feed my family bit." We all have grocery stores, and we all have jobs.

If it costs too much and your wife complains, tell her to shut up.. at least you aren't out cheating on her.

Just pointing out that that release of "breeder" size fish isnt always an option. And, yes I can point you to several spots where you will find guys who NEED some nice catfish because the job they have now isnt anywhere close to as good as the one they had 2 years ago. Unlike a lot of people they are struggling rather than defaulting on a mortgage and causing more economic harm. When, if ever, you get a wife tell her to "shut up" an let me know how your life goes for the next 10 days.

They can easily just bring in more smaller fish to keep, as opposed to the breeders, like the OP stated. If they are struggling so bad, then maybe they need to look into getting a better job, or a second job.

Yes, there is a point where people will do what they need to do to survive, but it's very rare for someone with a family not be able to keep food on the table. I have a friend who is divorced, not getting child support, works an $11 an hour job, and has 9 children.. she manages just fine. She also pays rent, a car payment, and utilities. She does not receive any assistance either.

As for the wife comment.. the union of 2 same sex people is not legal in my state, so there is no way that is happening. But my fiance can tell you that he's given me the shut up, at least I'm not cheating on you line, and I was over it about a half hour later.

The 10-12" hordes are the concern. Those giant groups of small bass are a process of the larger fish being overfished and now all these small bass control the food sources in those ponds. The whole point of this thread wasn't that fish shouldn't be kept to eat ever, hell i keep all the saltwater fish i catch. the salmon fishing is totally different because as you said, the fish would be dead on release
 
Mshill90, guessing that "90" is your year of berth. You dont know your ass from a hole in the ground when adult life is concerned and based on your further comments you treat yours as such. Its people like you who that have parents everywhere shaking there heads and hanging themselves wondering how they failed humanity. Im personnally greatful you have chosen a lifestyle that wont allow procreation. I am also have no doubt you will never have the money to adopt so it dies with you. Second off, where do you get off saying all of this? I did not personally attack you, and therefore this was not necessary.

I love how you think I have nothing. I work 60+ hours a week working for the Department of Education, I OWN my own home, I own my own car, and ran a fully operational dog rescue for 2 years before a medical issue with a dog forced me to focus on him. I am also 1 step away from owning my own business.

So now tell me, what the hell have you done in your life? What did you accomplish other than bong hits when you were 21?

I grew up to know that you have to work for what you want... if you don't have food on your table, get off your ass and get a job.

Incorrect. Bass spawn in new world cichilid size numbers and a 35 acre lake over ran with 10inch bass proves spawn is on. We have 3 year olds that don't see 12inches let alone the 14 inch legal length. Bass are so protected that they are stunted in even the largest lakes. I fish several lakes that should have 100lbs of fish taken out.
