I'm predominantly a catch a release guy myself. My parents have a lake house that I grew up with, nothing fancy on a small lake only 3 miles around. I get not only disgusted by such behavior but also possessive of the fish. Especially when a drop in fisher nabs the big female bass that spent the last 6 months residing under my dock, I'd caught and released her 2 or 3 times prior and then while sitting on the porch see some random drop in guy grab her kinda peeves me in a big way. I eat a fish that comes out of my parents lake like once every 2 or 3 years. I used to keep some natives from the lake but gave that up a long time ago. I love fishing, my way. Never done any big fishing trip or anything. Just off the end of the pier type stuff.

AMEN!!!

But good luck trying to get japan to listen. As far as commercial fishing goes they think they own the worlds oceans.

no love for the panfish? :P j/k haha

My personal thoughts are that they should enforce stricter freshwater limits and enforce much stricter saltwater COMMERCIAL fishing limits. Recreational fishing in the ocean isn't enough to even make a tiny dent, but the commercial fishing kills everything, i think we're to a point in the world where saltwater food fish can be farmed and bred rather than having to be pulled from the wild, would reduce the risk of mercury etc as well

AMEN!!!

I got nothing against catching and eating animals as long as you are respectful about it. Grabbing the big beauties is not only selfish but shows how ignorant you are. I know I haven't always seen things this way but these days when I see something amazing I study it and return it to nature, weather frog, turtle, or fish.

I know one thing for sure. My father's generation (he's 77) has NO problem catching and killing and eating things. It took me 20 years to change his mind.

In the end, I FEEL TERRIBLE for giant beautiful female bass (as has been said above) that lose their lives each day to fishermen.

How on earth can you kill a 30 year old, 7 plus pound animal?

God, that's what farms are for. Or keep a small one for a shore lunch...

I wish i could educate the world on this.

i've always hated this up where i live... Im from Saskatchewan Canada, we have great fishing here. but there is alot of ignorent pricks.. all ice fishing season you can find discarded Northern pike and Burbot that people leave on the ice. (the popular 20mins outside the city is loaded with redneck as#@(@#() people think that because pike is a predator and its boney its better off to just throw it on the ice and kill it so that "they eat less Perch and Walleye" well people throw burbot on the ice because they think they are garbage, i've heard they are the best fish to eat.... last winter me and my friend found a 5pound pike that someone just threw on the ice, we tried to eat it but it was left there for too many days and had some serious frost damage.. people just dont think they are selfish.. i caught a 14.5" perch once.. a huge female... i had to let her go.. but it makes you think.. the next guy will probably eat her.

Striped bass introduced into lake mead is the reason for other game fish shortage. They eat smaller fish like LM and SM BASS and Blugill. Striped bass,BAD IDEA!!

shoot im a 20 year old fisherman and ive only eaten 1 bass in my life and i gill hooked the mess out of it and it was a little 1.5lber, even my big 'trophy' i caught this year went straight back in to the lake, theres just no reason for it
