No one will ever change my mind. Catching and killing large females is just wrong wrong wrong, on a sportsman level. Its my personal opinion.

For the love of grasshoppers, if you must eat fish, keep only the smallish males.

CATCH - PHOTO - AND RELEASE big, large genetically superior bass.

Im done with thread. If it tore ya up that bad its time to quit. Ur being melodramatic, sry buts thats mho. Plz dont take that as an insult, thats not how its ment. This isnt animal cruelty, like someone stepping on kittens. This is simpley someone catching thier food. End of story. Period.

So am selfish for eating what I hunted? Don't get me wrong the basturds that keep and dont eat them, or keep them in **** conditions for long periods should be fined, but when I go camping like this weekend I ONLY eat what I catch and if I catch to muchthen I have to eat I release. I dont waste my catch what so ever.

Just don't keep large fish, that's my point. impose a self-regulated slot limit.

And im talking about bass.

Oh and its a free country, if you play within the laws, do whatever the heck you want.

This is one of the reasons why soon i will volunteer with my state/city DOW (Division of Wildlife), so i can soon (hope) to become a Game Warden. I see all the time people taking perfectly fine oversized fish. The other day i saw someone pull out a 24" Rainbow with a fat belly, pretty sure it was a breeding female. He shoved the rope through its gill and threw it back in the water. I shoulda stopped and said something to him, kinda feel a little guilty about not doing so. I always practice C&R, unless like mentioned above, i hook the gills, guts, etc. I dont ven like to eat fish, so the ones i do keep i give to my neighbor. Im with Redear and NCState.

I love fresh fish.

If its legal then I have no problem with someone eating what they catch whether it be big or small. I have eaten many 3-5 pound bass taken from a private lake and they fried up just fine:)

i think those people are more of the exeption then the rule. Most people i know who fish and catch a monster are plenty satisfied with photos, besides the big fish don't taste as good as the smaller ones. i almost never catch big fish and even then I often release them if there are smaller, tastier fish in the cooler. your principals are good keep following them. I can't imagine why someone would keep bass unless it is for the wall, despicable, they taste awful. But I would feel devastated if I saw that happen with big muskie, trout, or walleye.

Impose self regulations and limits. If the fish is really big, let her swim.

Don't kill a fish because you can, think twice, and take a smaller fish home to eat.

It's like my mom always taught me, just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should.

But for the love of all things, even though I don't do it, I never was, and I am still not, I repeat NOT against catching and eating the odd fish... i hope my point has been made somewhere along the way here.
