my hi-fin banded shrimp goby is missing

i had him for a month, he was full grown when i bought him so old age is possible. i ordered another one btw.
 
If your rock was not placed directly on the bottom of the tank before the sand was introduced, you can get some shifting and setteling caused by excevators. I have lost snails before and had rock piles collapse because the sand was moved from beneath them. A tight fitting hiding spot can become a death trap with the slightest shift.
