My hi fin spotted pleco pooping sand???

I just tie a slice of zucchini to the driftwood. I froze mine, never cooked it.

I feel pretty dumb now lol. Somebody at my lfs told me that was the only way the pleco would eat it and it would be healthiest blanched

Lots of people still do it. It does make it softer, so it is good for getting plecos to eat it for the first time. But you are alot better not blanching imo.
