My homemade filter....

from what i hear you don't want the scrubbies fully submerged cause it don't allow the BB's to breathe. thus just making it a power head basically. i might be wrong though.

That's true in a sense. The filter will still work, just not as efficiently as a wet dry would. BB are always around even submerged, they just do a much better job when exposed to mode oxygen. The olony is larger and works better wet/dry.

I have heard this also, but then again I have heard that it does not matter. but i have uses scrubbies in canisters with good results so i guess we will see.
I also have another one exact same model that i am running ceramic bio tube in.

Well the power head it setup for a venturi... I should have some tubing laying around. I'll try it when I get home.

It really doesn't matter too much. Bacteria will colonize regardless. You just need to ensure that the water is well oxygenated.
