Yes...on peacock takes their base color from the Mbuna side of their genes...so even females have (dull) color at pretty early age...

When its only small fish in the tank a dominant male will emerge and have good colors at small sizes. I have some 1-2 inch fry and out of know where i have this male that has great color and has grown faster then the others. That could have happened.

Well he was dominant in his tank I bought him from. He isn't the same fry as my other ones that he is with
