yeah but mayans dont have a y bar.... thats being said festae dont have large tailspot ... so i dunno and i see i posted in the wrong spot sorry guys its been a while since i was active on here

Mayan cichlids do not have the y bar, like you already stated. The dorsal fin is not typically like that with cichlids. The fin appearance could be the result of an injury, or the fishes might be inbred or very closely related. This could more than likely explain the mangled looking bars and almost simulate the "y" bar to an extent, and even help explain the dorsal fin. Again, I really think they are, no disrespect, but probably low grade Mayan cichlids in which their parents were very closely related (inbred) and when they spawned, your current Mayan cichlids were the result. This tends to even make it even more likely if you are not able to accurately verify the source.

oh Im not offended like i said these are rescues more or less, however got some live babies so hopefully some of the grow out will show some promise, if not the fact that they have already spawned and had some successful fry is cool enough for me .

I dunno mayans , festaes its not really that important to me but the hybrid fry thats the icing on the cake
