my hybrid project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree. The Lyonsi has the right shape, attitude and colors to make a nice FH mix. Since they closely resemble FH/RD already, it has probably been done before, but I have never seen one clearly stated as such a cross. Good luck and keep us posted.

with a male that decent its almost a crime not to get him a decent female flowerhorn mate.

update on them, the lyonsi female is on a convict pattern now lol(evil face), sorry for the tank mess and water, tons of things going on right now

Not that I have anything at all against hybrids. I have a few of my own "homegrown" red texas. Although, I believe the Lyonsi is on the ACA C.A.R.E.S Conservation Priority Species at Risk List labeled as CR, CP (critically endangered, conservation priority). You would actually be doing the fish a great service if you could find a male Lyonsi to mate her too and help increase the population of this rare and beautiful cichlid. And I'm sure the fry would attract more interest than the lyonsi /hybrid fry would. and a better price as well. Either way, good luck with your project.

doesnt look like a pure lyonsi to me to begin with. but ive not looked into them real hard
