My Hystrix Ray pictures

Have you noticed any denticles growing on the male?

He has a full "beard" of them around his face.....very small ones, like stubble all between his eyes to the edge of his disk...then a row of very small ones going down the length of his tail.

I wonder if it has to due with maturity. My male is about 7.5" and is starting to sprout some on the front of his disc. His claspers have also started to develop.

I think the larger female that Keepinfish has also has these denticles.

My big female does have a bunch.
But my male is rolled claspers and has smooth skin..

Nice looking rays Do you say that you only feed with 5-6 crawlers a dayto a 12" ray, and have this growth rate? I find that weird, but maybe its just me. I feed my 4" yepezi with 10 crawlers a day, with no problem, even 15 she will take..

I would love some hystrix, my nr 1.

Quick update on the hystrix ray from Aquascape, the smaller lighter one if from thatfishplace in Lancaster, Pa (cant beat a 79 dollar hystrix!!).....both have grown about an inch since I got them around Christmas time.....
