not a bad idea, buying baby oddballs in tanks at the lfs. i might have to give that a try. my lfs always have tanks with leftover oddballs they're unloading for cheap
I do not really know how to tell which is male or female, yet my thoughts on this batch is this. Since there are 7 of them left I am most certainly going to get a pair out of them and I will set up a tank for them to live and breed in so that I will have my own stock makers. I have since found that this fish is not so easy to come by here in regina and having a pair will make money.

good idea picked up stuff like that, I found an interesing little Bujurquina-like acara mixed in with rams and apistos at big als some years ago, now i skim through tanks at the store looking for oddball contaminants in their shipment
After I came to find MFK, I got inspired and started talking to some people who had big set ups and some people who ran fish stores and other things.
A strong suggestion was made to me to go to the various stores and look for fish that were improperlly labled and by them because I could very well come up with diamonds in the rough. Or at the very least have some fun raising mystery fish

.
The sick thing about being located here in the middle of canada is that there is a waste land when it comes to getting nice oddball rare fish. So far I have about 30-35 pairs of fish that are producing fry, though I usually let the fry become food because I have not got my fish room and hatchery set up yet.
The way I figure it if I can get it going here in sask, who is going to order fish in from 3 provinces away when you can get it local and have it used to local water parameters?
I am very much going to be interested in seeing what the single out fish turns into. His bud that I got I knew was a red devil have to make sure to keep pics of what he grows out to be. I have 3 pairs of red devils presently, so when the little ones grow a bit I will put them in with the others.
