I clean my filter pads every week. If I waited a month the filters would clog up. Best way to have good water is to remove as much waste as possible every week, i.e. clean your filter pads and do 25% minimum water changes.

yeah... I'm sure. I killed my cycle by overcleaning and had a ammonia spike that peaked out at 2.0 ppm and my ph dropped to 6.0... maybe even lower. My test kit only went to 6.0 I removed my RD to a bucket with some fresh water and began doing water changes until it looked a little better then dosed with BB. Should I add salt to my setup to help with the HITH or should I hold off since I just got my cycle jump-started again.
