Congrats on your jags spawning out. Have the eggs hatched yet?
I have a two spawning pairs of jags. The productive pair have spawned 6 times since February. The latest batch of fry hatched last Monday. There are about at least 600 little buggers swimming around with their parents. I took them about 3 to 4 days to digest their yolk sacks before swimming on up from the gravel. I now have them feeding on Hikari First Bites food. I try to use this fine food before switching on over to frozen cubes of daphnia and crushed cichlid flake food. The jag parents were tearing it up today, splashing and flaring like you wouldn't believe anytime I got close to the tank.
I have three other batches of fry from a few months back. They are eating me out of house and home. The one batch has about 550 fry (1 - 1.5 inchers) that go off on the cubes of frozen blood worms.
My other pair a jags likes to spawn every three weeks or so. The male loves to eat the eggs. He is one crazy jag. He was in a tank with two females that he has spawned with. It is kind of wild how he takes turns with his girls. He decided to beat the hell out of the larger female the other night. Enough of a beat down that I decided to take her out and toss her in the oscar tank. The oscars like their new tank mate.
To make a long post a little shorter. Jags are pretty sweet. Good luck with your jags.
